Eltham Vet Services has been at the forefront of veterinary innovation and research since the 1960s, from pioneering Leptospirosis studies to groundbreaking Neospora research in the 1990s. As the first to introduce ultrasound scanning to Taranaki farms, we now perform thousands of sheep and cattle scans annually.

At Eltham Vet Services, we are dedicated to continuing education and supporting our farming community. We host farmer seminars and short courses to help enhance their farming business. Our past seminars have covered crucial topics such as Mastitis, Lameness, and a half-day seminar titled “Spring First Aid” for new entrants to the farming scene.
Sponsorship is a key part of our business philosophy. As a community-based organization, we believe in giving back to our local community. This year, we are proud to sponsor school calf days, rugby, soccer, and squash clubs, dog trials, the local Art Gallery and Theatre, and the local golf club, among others.
We also offer the Michael Higham Memorial Scholarship to a 4th-year veterinary student at Massey University. This scholarship, named in honor of the late son of our previous CEO, David Higham, supports the student for the final two years of their studies with a lump sum cash payment and a daily allowance while they practice with us. We view this scholarship as an investment in the future of rural veterinary practice.
